“A BIG Experience in a Small Town!”
FAQ
1. Q: Do I need a partner?
A: No. Every student is strongly encouraged to rotate in group classes and dance with all the other members. This helps your dancing tremendously and builds a sense of teamwork within the class. For private lessons for one student, the instructor serves as the student's partner.
2. Q: What should I wear?
A: For SALSA and BALLROOM classes, students are encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable dancing in. Specific workout clothes or dance clothes are not needed. Jeans and a t-shirt to business casual attire are all acceptable!
For ZUMBA: students are to wear workout clothes and sneakers.
For BELLYDANCE: students are to wear a close fitting tank top or sports bra and comfortable pants (yoga pants or sweats).

3. Q: What about shoes?
A: For SALSA and BALLROOM classes, comfort is the key. Ladies are encouraged to wear a small heel (a non-flip-flop), but can also dance in flats if that would be more comfortable. Gentlemen should avoid sneakers or any other shoe with a rubber sole. A dress shoe or something with a smooth sole is recommended. If you would like to make a small investment, a ballroom shoe is ideal for both ladies and men, and some are available for purchase at the dance studio. Ballroom shoes are usually classified by having a suede sole which helps with executing spins.
For ZUMBA: sneakers.
For BELLYDANCE: barefoot.

4. Q: If I put a deposit on dance merchandise (shoes, etc.), how long will you hold them for?
A: We understand that purchasing dance/ballroom shoes is an investment and that payment cannot always be completed 100% at the time of transaction. If you put 20% down, we will hold the merchandise for you for 30 days. However, if after 30 days, payment still has not be completed, the merchandise will be returned to the FOR SALE table and your deposit will be forfeited.

5. Q: How can I register for a class?
A: You can reserve a spot online by visiting the Payment Center, make a payment over the phone with a credit card, or mail a check made payable to SALSA IN THE SUBURBS to the Salsa in the Suburbs Dance Studio 1245 N. Providence Rd. Media, PA 19063. Once you purchase a membership, please make sure to let us know which class you plan on attending, so we are sure we have enough students to hold the class.

6. Q: Can I join a class at any time, or do I need to wait for a specific start date?
A: Drop-ins are always welcome and you can join a class at any time. When you are a beginner, it’s more beneficial to start week one, but if the instructor thinks you can catch up, or if you take private lessons to catch up, you may join!

7. Q: What is the difference between group and private lessons?
A: Private lessons offer more flexibility regarding scheduling as well as complete individualized attention. Group classes are held at a set time each week and move at a generally pre-established pace. Private lessons are geared toward your individual dance needs, and move at your pace. Group lessons are about $15/lesson and private lessons are $55-$70/hour.

8. Q: How many people are in group classes?
A: We limit class sizes to twenty students to ensure that each student receives the amount of attention he/she needs from the instructor.

9. Q: Are group classes sold individually or am I obligated to purchase a membership?
A: We encourage students to purchase a membership to get the discounted rates and reserve a spot in the class(es) he/she may want to attend, but if the student is ready for the material which is being taught, he/she may attend a class and pay the drop-in rate of $15.

10. Q: Once I purchase a membership, when does it become active?
Once you purchase a membership, you will have the duration of the membership to activate it. If you do not start your membership within its duration, it will become void. Your membership will begin when you take your first class and be active for the duration of the membership from that day forward. Group dance class memberships are valid for 2 months from activation date and group Zumba class memberships are valid for 3 months from activation date.

11. Q: Can I come more frequently than what my membership specifies?
A: As long as you’re a member, you can attend classes as often as you’d like. You can use up the classes in your account as quickly as you’d like because you can always buy more if you run out. However, there are no refunds and missed classes do not carry over beyond the expiration date of your membership.

12. Q: Are there any special promotions or discounts available?
Special subscriber-only coupons are often attached to our email blasts, so make sure to join the mailing list in order to receive them! For early registration, if you re-new your enrollment for the following session before your current enrollment expires, you will save $10. However, renewals must be done IN PERSON at Salsa in the Suburbs Dance Studio, with CASH OR CHECK, to take advantage of this discount.
For any other limited-time only specials, please see our PROMOTIONS page.

13. Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule my private lesson?
A: You are required to call Salsa in the Suburbs 48 hours in advance of your lesson to cancel or reschedule. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of that lesson.

14. Q: What if I get injured/seriously ill/etc. and can’t make all of my registered classes/make-ups? What if I paid for classes and cannot start on the start date? I understand that classes do not “roll-over” after the 8-weeks are finished!
A: To be fair to all of our students, we cannot refund or extend expiration dates of memberships. However, if your membership is still active, we can change your initial payment so that it will be converted to the cash value you paid, and all classes you did attend can be counted as drop-ins, deducting the drop-in rate/class. The remaining credit will sit in your account indefinately.
PLEASE NOTE:
We cannot retroactively credit missed classes. It is your responsibility to contact us while your membership is still active if there is a serious issue that will require a ”convert to credit” for your classes. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of any missed lesson(s).
