“A BIG Experience in a Small Town!”
FAQ
Q: Do I need a partner?
A: No. Every student is strongly encouraged to rotate in group classes and dance with all the other members. This helps your dancing tremendously and builds a sense of teamwork within the class. For private lessons for one student, the instructor serves as the student's partner.
Q: What should I wear?
A: For SALSA and Ballroom Classes, students are encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable dancing in. Specific workout clothes or dance clothes are not needed. Jeans and a t-shirt to business casual attire are all acceptable!
For ZUMBA, students are to wear workout clothes and sneakers.
For Bellydance, students are to wear a close fitting tank top or sports bra and comportable pants (yoga pants or sweats)

Q: What about shoes?
A: For Salsa and Ballroom classes, comfort is the key. Ladies are encouraged to wear a small heel (a non-flip-flop), but can also dance in flats if that would be more comfortable. Gentlemen should avoid sneakers or any other shoe with a rubber sole. A dress shoe or something with a smooth sole is recommended. If you would like to make a small investment, a ballroom shoe is ideal for both ladies and men, and some are available for purchase at the dance studio. Ballroom shoes are usually classified by having a suede sole which helps with executing spins. For zumba: sneakers. For Bellydancing: barefoot.

Q: How can I register for a class?
A: You can reserve a spot online by visiting the Payment Center, or mail a check made payable to SALSA IN THE SUBURBS to the Salsa in the Suburbs Dance Studio 1245 N. Providence Rd. Media, PA 19063.

Q: Can I join a class at any time, or do I need to wait for a specific start date?
A: Drop-ins are always welcome and you can join a class at any time. When you are a beginner it’s more beneficial to start week one, but if the instructor thinks you can catch up, or if you take private lessons to catch up, you may join!

Q: What is the difference between group and private lessons?
A: Private lessons offer more flexibility regarding scheduling as well as complete individualized attention. Group classes are held at a set time each week and move at a generally pre-established pace. Private lessons are geared toward your individual dance needs, and move at your pace. Group lessons are about $15/lesson and private lessons are $60-$70/hour.

Q: How many people are in group classes?
A: We limit class sizes to twenty students to ensure that each student receives the amount of attention he/she needs from the instructor.

Q: Are group classes sold individually or am I obligated to purchase an entire series?
A: Often series completely sell out, but if space permits, and the student is ready for the material which is being taught, he/she may attend a class and pay the drop-in rate of $15.

Q: Can missed classes be made up?
A: Students are welcome to attend a make-up class in their own level or lower, space permitting, within the same series during which the missed class(es) occured. There are no refunds and missed classes do not carry from one session to the next.
